Enrique Gutierrez Cillero Director Meeting the challenges of growthCustomized Trados and Project Management training at Cillero & De Motta in ZaragozaA number of translation agencies have sought Qabiria's help when having to face an increased volume of work. Because the translation market is growing, companies are hiring new staff, with the consequent need to bring them up to speed with management procedures and work tools. This happens especially in rapidly expanding companies like Cillero & De Motta, based in Zaragoza, Spain. Qabiria offered a customized solution to their training needs, offering a full package including a SDL Trados course and a project management course. These two separate but complementary courses were taught by Marco and Sergio at the company's Headquarters in Calle San Miguel, Zaragoza. The six attendees were split into two groups. Trainees included both new recruits and experienced staff. Therefore, some of them required more practice to better understand a theory that was new to them, while others needed to deepen or consolidate their knowledge. Qabiria tailored the training courses in order to bring everybody at the same level. ResultsAfter 5 training sessions held between September and November 2008, Cillero & De Motta's personnel acquired a thorough understanding of project management. Moreover, they learnt the skills required to make the most out of SDL Trados, from the simple recurring operations with translation memories, to the complex procedures requiring OCR, filters or PerfectMatch. |
