| Jóvenes en RED (young people in the net) is an initiative of the Spanish government offering to people under 30 a free .es domain and hosting for one year. As we've already stated somewhere else, and won't repeat it enough, it is now a inescapable need for all translation professionals to have a space on the internet where they can build their profile. It may be very useful to leverage the possibilities offered by networking sites such as LinkedIn, Xing and all marketplaces that allow them to have "presence" online, but their proliferation is making the showcase smaller and smaller, there are few possibilities of customization and profiles end up looking all the same. Not to mention that being hosted by third parties means also being subject to others' standards and decisions, even when paying the subscription. Therefore we find it a praiseworthy initiative that launched by the Spanish government at the beginning of 2008, to give away for free a domain and one year of hosting to people under 30, called Jóvenes en RED. What better opportunity for young translators? But if you don't want to miss it you must hurry up, because the offer ends up in a few weeks, precisely on December 23rd, 2009. If you are not sure how to build up your presonal website, check out our webinar on how to do it in a few hours. |
